Das Netzwerk M6DIII ging hervor aus den in einem Wettbewerb aus- gew\u00e4hlten K\u00fcnstlern f\u00fcr das \u201eDepartement III\u201c der 2007 in Zypern geplanten Europ\u00e4ischen Kunstbiennale Manifesta 6, als diese aus politisch-rechtlichen Gr\u00fcnden abgesagt wurde.
\nPatricia Reed und Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Realiste nahmen Kontakt auf mit den zu teilnehmenden K\u00fcnstlerInnen und organisierten die \u201eVertragsver- handlungen\u201c vom 28.-31. Mai 2007 in Berlin, wo sich einige von uns pers\u00f6nlich und andere virtuell einfanden, um kollektiv ein Text-basiertes Kunstwerk zu erarbeiten. Die verschiedenen Farben repr\u00e4sentieren je die Stimme eines Autors, einer Autorin und Unter- zeichnenden (Robin Bhattacharya:Azurblau) des Vertrags, welcher mit der Vernissage in Kraft trat und seine G\u00fcltigkeit f\u00fcr die eint\u00e4gige \u00f6ffentliche Pr\u00e4sentation am 1. Juni 2007 hatte.
\nDer \u201eAbschlussball \u2013 Contract of Discord\u201c war das erste Projekt des M6DII \u201aZombie-Netzwerks\u2019, so genannt weil es aus dem Tod eines an- deren, gescheiterten Projekts heraus entstand.<\/p>\n
Der fertige Text wurde an der Ausstellung Abschlussball im der Galerie WestGermany, Berlin pr\u00e4sentiert und als Inset in IDEA arts+society No. 28, Rum\u00e4nien, publiziert.<\/p>\n
Press Release:<\/strong><\/p>\n Manifesta 6, Department 3: Abschlussball<\/strong> is an independent, collaborative, self-organised initiative\u00a0from more than 20 of the selected students from Dept III of the \u201cfailed\u201d Manifesta 6 school-as-biennale\u00a0project (*This project is not affiliated with the International Foundation Manifesta and its respective curators).\u00a0 We use the\u00a0term \u201cfailed\u201d purposefully in quotations. The mishap of the project has transformed it unforeseeable\u00a0directions \u2013 becoming the first purely textual biennial.\u00a0 Since the inception of the project until now it has\u00a0manifest itself exclusively through a collection of texts (applications, press articles, curatorial statements,\u00a0legal documents, publications, emails, etc).\u00a0 This transformation has re-positioned the intentions, but has\u00a0unwillingly produced the most trans-disciplinary biennial of its\u2019 kind, involving, but not excluded to the\u00a0juridical, political, diplomatic, intellectual, media, economic and aesthetic spheres.<\/p>\n From this perspective the \u201cstill-born\u201d network of Dept III participants, is seeking to reanimate itself into a\u00a0\u201czombie network\u201d as a collective, productive machine.\u00a0 The collaborative efforts are focused on a co-authored \u201cconfetti contract\u201d \u2013 a text built in intervals between all participants of fragments, statements,\u00a0digressions, interactions, re-writings, definitions and discords that take place amongst such a large group.<\/p>\n Currently participants are working remotely, yet many will convene for four days of contract deliberations\u00a0face to face, at which time a final 1-day contract will be signed.\u00a0 On June 1st the contract signing will be\u00a0celebrated with an \u201cabschlussball\u201d (end of school-year celebration).<\/p>\n The collective contract negotiation will initially focus on the following issues: the distinctions between\u00a0\u201csymbiotic \/ parasitic projects\u201d vs \u201ctumorous structures\u201d; the ergonomics of a zombie network; the\u00a0carnival as collaborative form and contracts of discord.\u00a0 From these points several digressions will take\u00a0place through the interventions of group members, and subsequently interventions upon interventions.<\/p>\n The exponential nature of this multi-authored project mobilizes the abundance and multiplicity inherent\u00a0to our estranged network towards a collective (albeit non-consensus forming) production \u2013 all the while\u00a0constructing a temporary, agora-esque infrastructure for \u201cplay\u201d as a dynamic group.<\/p>\n The network has been exhumed.<\/p>\n
